The link above is about Zappos. They’re adding 50,000 product videos to their website this year. This news isn’t a new story but I got to thinking about it yesterday thanks to a tweet from @leighholt. They’re the #1 site for shoes and they got there because they care the most. Everything about this company screams the fact that they care about their customers. That’s why you take the time/money to produce 50,000 product videos. It’s easy to just add photos of the shoes and a product description. Producing detailed product videos takes time and investment but it makes your user experience so much better than the next site’s.
Maybe you don’t need to create 50,000 videos to explain your product…maybe YOU are the product. So if that’s the case, what are you doing to show your fans/listeners that you care most? Could you do something to establish yourself as the artist or radio station that cares the most? Zappos isn’t the #1 shoe site by accident. Could you become the #1 radio station? The biggest artist in your format? Simply by caring more? Think about it. Then do something that shows you care about THEM…not just the attention that they give you.

p.s. all of this is written with the assumption that you have the chops…that your product is amazing. Without that, caring will only get you so far. But an amazing product from a person/company that cares the most? Jackpot.
